Brisbane Racing Carnival’s Tattersall’s Tiara Explained

The Tattersalls Tiara is the last racing major Group 1 race of the Australian season, and is the main race in the Brisbane racing carnival for fillies and mares. The last race was held on 20th June 2015 and was won by the horse Skrikandi. It became a Group 1 race in 2007, and is now one of the premier horse races of the area. Owners and breeders in particular are very keen on the Tatts Tiara, as it gives them the chance for their fillies and mares to increase their stud value, and many entries come from all over Australia, some even from the southern states. It is traditionally run at the racecourse at Eagle Farm, over the distance of 1400 metres, with the total prize money of 500,000 dollars.

Tattersall’s biggest race of the year is the Tatts Tiara, and this year a total of nearly 5000 patrons appeared at the track. The day was enjoyed by everyone, as the entertainment, prizes and giveaways were increased to ensure lots of fun for the family. One of the interesting fact for all Australian punters, is that since 1983 the Tatts Tiara favourite has won seven times, and been placed five times.

Raced meetings conducted by the Brisbane Racing Club are run on one of their two race tracks, Eagle Farm race track and the adjacent Doomben race track.  Most of the races recently have been held at the Doomben racecourse, because of weather conditions. Training is usually done at Doomben anyway, or on the Gold Coast race track. Both the summer and winter racing carnival attract much interest from the population and media, and horses are entered from all over Australia.

Betting on Horses

Horse races all over Australia are considered some of their major sporting events. Not only do people love attending the races, they also enjoy the social aspect of the event, which can contribute greatly to the social calendar of many of the smaller towns. Betting on the races is a very popular pastime, with billions of dollars wagered annually on the outcome.  Due to major advances in modern technology, all punters now have the option of placing their bets online, from the comfort of their own homes.

Punters of online or mobile betting can now obtain all the necessary information on internet they need regarding the form of the participating horses, the jockeys to ride them, the condition of the race track, and from which post position at the gate the horse will start. All these details, called studying the form, will help the punter to determine which horse will win the race. The trainer also can be important. Although a trainer cannot guarantee a winner, it is probably wise to discard horses that come from a low level trainer.

Many Prestigious Horse Races Run Every Week

Opportunities of placing a bet on a horse are almost endless, as there are races somewhere in the country every weekend, and during the week too.  Prizes are often large and the prizes offered at Doomben race course, on races like the Tatts Tiara, are no exception. These races attract many punters, whether attending the race or placing bets online, and the more money placed on the horses, the bigger will be the winnings.
